AI tutor notice

Last updated: 8 October 2026

This notice explains how QuestLens uses artificial intelligence for tutoring and study help, how we label that content, and what a parent can control. It is written for the parent or legal guardian who manages the account. How we process personal data more broadly is in the Privacy notice. Version 2026-10-08.

1. Who provides the AI

Navriti Solutions operates QuestLens. For tutoring features we use Google Gemini (the Gemini API). We do not train or provide a foundation model of our own. We send study text to Google to generate the reply; we do not use that content to advertise to the student.

2. Which features use AI

These features call Google Gemini when a parent has allowed AI tutoring and has not paused it:

  • Explanations of practice questions, including optional diagrams.
  • Doubt Lens study coaching (study buddy, Socratic, and viva modes).
  • Similar questions — we embed the question text to find nearby items in our bank.
  • Improvement reports built from anonymised score statistics.

Sitting a practice set, mock test, or previous-year paper does not call Gemini at attempt time. Those sessions use questions from our bank or a published paper.

3. Labelling

Explanations, diagrams, Doubt Lens replies, and improvement reports are labelled in the product as AI-generated study help. They can be incomplete or wrong.

Questions shown to students for practice come from a bank a person has approved, or from a published previous-year paper. Where a bank item or paper was prepared with AI assistance, the product shows a short source label (for example AI-generated and human-approved, or previous-year paper AI-extracted and human-approved) so you can tell AI-assisted content from human review.

4. What we send to the model

Tutoring prompts are built from study notes and the question. We do not put the student’s name or email in those prompts. Before a student message is stored or sent, we strip obvious emails, long phone numbers, identity-number patterns, and “my name is …” phrasing. That strip is a mitigation, not a guarantee that no personal detail remains.

Improvement reports use anonymised scores, not the student’s name. AI usage logs store the model, token counts, day, and exam — not the full text of tutoring prompts.

5. What we do not use AI for

  • Mastery scores, Today’s path, and diagnostics are calculated on our systems from the student’s own attempts. They do not use Gemini.
  • Payments are handled by Razorpay, not by an AI tutor.
  • We do not use AI tutoring data for advertising to students or for marketing by other companies.

6. Accuracy and limits

AI output is study help only. Viva scores and improvement reports are practice feedback. They are not official marks, ranks, or admission decisions. You and the student must not treat them as a substitute for a teacher, the official syllabus, or an exam authority.

7. Parent controls

When you add a student, you choose whether to allow AI tutoring. You can later withdraw that purpose, or pause all AI tutoring, under Privacy and AI on the student’s page in Students. Pausing or withdrawing stops new tutoring calls going forward; it does not undo past sessions or cancel a payment.

Optional photo doubts (sending a picture of a question to Gemini) stay off unless you allow them and we enable the feature in the product. The photo path is not enabled today.

8. Where processing happens

Study text for explanations, Doubt Lens, similar-question search, and improvement reports is sent to Google Gemini. Google may process that content outside India. Account and learning records are held on Google Firebase; our Cloud Functions run in Mumbai (asia-south1). Details are in the Privacy notice.

9. Safety

We check tutor output, rate-limit calls, and use abuse-prevention checks on the app. Bank questions are human-reviewed before students see them. Photo doubts are not shipped until additional image safeguards are in place. No control is perfect; if something looks wrong, pause AI and contact us.

10. How long we keep AI-related records

Completed Doubt Lens chat messages are deleted after 90 days. Session summaries may remain with the learning record until you delete the student account. AI usage logs are deleted after 13 months. Full retention and deletion rules are in the Privacy notice (section 6).

11. Related documents and contact

The Privacy notice covers personal data, rights, and grievance. The User agreement is the contract for using QuestLens. You may also use the Contact us page.

12. Changes

When we change this notice we will update the date and the version above. New purpose consents, and later changes you save on the dashboard, are stored against the privacy policy version then in effect. If you do not agree to an update, stop using AI tutoring (or the service) and ask us to close the account.
